Information about the Fokker 50

Formed by the Dutchman Anthony Fokker in 1912, Fokker had become by the late 1920's the largest aircraft manufacture in the world.

The Fokker 50 was designed in 1983 as a replacement for the older Fokker F27 Friendship airliner and entered service in 1987, it was destined to remain in production until 1996 at which time the Fokker Aircraft Company went into liquidation. The Fokker 50 has a maximum capacity of fifty passengers and can carry them a distance of 2000 km at a speed of 530 km/h.

VLM is a small Belgian airline formed in 1992 with it's headquarters in Antwerp, it specialises in European regional airport destinations. VLM Airlines fleet of aircraft consist of 19 Fokker 50's using the London City Airport in the UK as it's hub.
