The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is a triple-engined medium to long-range wide-body airliner designed as a replacement for the aging DC-8 airliner, it entered service in 1971, production continued until December 1988. The McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30(F) is a purpose built freight version powered by three General Electric CF6-50 turbofan engines combined with larger fuel tanks to increase range. Information about VARIG Log Varig (Viação Aérea RIo Grandense) was Brazil's first airline, formed in 1927, in December 2006 following bankruptcy Varig gained new owners and became VarigLog and currently operates a small fleet of Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft.
