HB-IXN Swiss Avro 146-RJ100Information about the BAe Avro 146-RJ100 The BAe 146 prototype first flew in September 1981 and was produced by British Aerospace between 1983 and 2002. Powered by four relatively quiet turbofan jet engines the BAE Systems Avro 146 was marketed as the "Whisperjet", it is in use by many European airlines to serve inner city airports where noise limits prohibited the use of "louder airliners" and it's 100 passenger capacity was adequate. Information about Swiss international airlines Swiss International Air Lines started it's operations during March 2002 as the new Swiss flag carrier following the 2001 bankruptcy of Swissair and was acquired three years later by Lufthansa.
