HB-IJP Swiss Airbus A320-214Information about the Airbus A320-214 Airbus Industrie began as a consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 when British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner the Airbus A300. Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades has been the "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007 is larger and is already being called the "Superjumbo". The Airbus A320 is a twin engined single aisle airliner normally seating 180 passengers, the prototype first flew on the 22nd of February 1987. Information about Swiss International Airlines Swiss International Air Lines started operations in March 2002 as the new Swiss flag carrier following the 2001 bankruptcy of Swissair and was acquired three years later by the German Airline Lufthansa.
