The Boeing 747 or "Jumbo Jet" first entered service in 1970 as the 747-100 series, the 747 series remained the largest airliners flying and in production for thirty seven years until the advent of the Airbus A380 in 2007. The Boeing 747-400 series entered service in February 1989, a freighter version four years later, it is the only 747 series still in production.
