Raytheon is a major US military contractor founded in 1922 as the American Appliance Company and re-named Raytheon in 1925. In 1993 Raytheon purchased British Aerospace Corporate Jets Ltd from British Aerospace and marketed their BAe 125 as the Raytheon Hawker 800XP, the name Hawker was chosen to reflect the aircrafts origins, the original design was started by de Havilland 1961 and marketed as the HS.125 following de Havilland acquisition by the Hawker-Siddeley group in 1959. Production of the Raytheon Hawker 800XP continued at the ex-BAe Broughton Plant outside Chester in the UK until 1996
when production was transferred to the United States.
