Boeing was incorporated in Washington by William E. Boeing on 15th of July 1916, as “Pacific Aero Products Co.” and was re-named the “Boeing Airplane Company” on the 9th of May 1917. Today Boeing has become the Worlds largest manufacturer of airliners with only Airbus as significant or major competitor.

The Boeing 747-400 series "Jumbo-Jet" entered service in February 1989, a freighter version four years later, it is the only 747 series still in production although Boeing intends to introduce a new stretched version, the "747-8 Intercontinental".
