D-AIRW Lufthansa Airbus A321-131Information about the Airbus A321-131 Airbus Industrie is a consortium of European aviation companies formed during 1967 when the British, French and German governments signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner - the Airbus A300. Airbus and Boeing are currently dominating the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades was the famous "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series airliner but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007, is even bigger and is already being referred to as the new "Super-jumbo". The Airbus A321 is a twin engine, single aisle plane, based on the A320 but lengthened by 6.94 m allowing a seating capacity of 220 passengers, the Airbus A321 first flew on the 11th of March 1993. Information about Lufthansa Deutsche Lufthansa AG was started in 1926 as the Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft following the merger of "Junkers Luftverkehr" and "Deutsche Aero Lloyd". By the outbreak of WW2 Lufthansa had grown into one of the world's largest airlines. During WWII services were severely curtailed and totally ceased from 1945 to 1953 following Germany's defeat. Today Lufthansa, following the merger during October 2005 with the Swiss airline SWISS, is a major international airline operator.
