D-AIPR Lufthansa Airbus A320-211Information about the Airbus A320-211 Airbus Industrie started as a consortium of European aviation companies during 1967 when the British, French and German governments signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner - the Airbus A300. Airbus and Boeing currently dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades was the "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series airliner but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007, is even larger and is already referred to as the new "Super-jumbo". The Airbus A320 is a twin engined airliner with a single aisle and seating 180 passengers, the A320 first flew on the 22nd February 1987. Information about Lufthansa Deutsche Lufthansa AG was started in 1926 as the Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft following the merger of "Junkers Luftverkehr" and "Deutsche Aero Lloyd". At the outbreak of WWII Lufthansa had become one of the world's largest airlines. During WW11 services were severely curtailed and totally ceased from 1945 to 1953 following Germany's defeat. Today Lufthansa, following their merger during October 2005 with the Swiss airline SWISS, has become a major international airline.
