D-AIPA Lufthansa Airbus A320-211Information about the Airbus A320-211 Airbus Industrie began as a consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 when British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner the Airbus A300. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades has been the "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007 is even bigger and is already referred to as the new "Superjumbo". The Airbus A320 is a twin engined, single aisle airliner seating 180 passengers, the aircraft first flew on the 22nd February 1987. Information about Lufthansa Deutsche Lufthansa AG was formed during 1926 as Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft following the merger of "Junkers Luftverkehr" and "Deutsche Aero Lloyd". By the outbreak of WW11 Lufthansa had become one of the world's largest airlines. During WW11 services were curtailed and totally ceased from 1945 to 1953 following Germany's defeat. Today Lufthansa, following the merger with the Swiss airline SWISS in October 2005, is a major international airline Lufthansa currently operates a mixed fleet of Boeing and Airbus airliners and has ordered 15 Airbus A380 "Superjumbo" airliners.
