Airbus Industrie was formed by a consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 after British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first Airbus airliner the Airbus A300. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades has been the "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007 is even bigger and is already referred to as the "Superjumbo". The Airbus A320 is a twin engined, single aisle aircraft normally seating 180 passengers, the aircraft made it's first flight on the 22nd of February 1987.
