Today Airbus has grown until it is the World's second largest airliner producer. The Airbus A340 is powered by four engines and is a twin aisle aircraft seating between 261 and 440 passengers. The Airbus A340 first took to the air on the 25th October 1991. Information about Cathay Pacific Airways Cathay Pacific Airways was formed in 1946 by Roy Farrell and Sydney de Kantzow in China, in 1959 it acquired Hong Kong Airways. In 1988 Cathay Pacific became a founding member of the Oneworld alliance. Cathay Pacific Airways operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing airliners.
