9Y-TJN Caribbean Airlines Airbus A340-313Information about the Airbus A340-313 Airbus Industrie began as a consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 after the British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a new European airliner, the Airbus A300. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production. The largest airliner in production for many decades has been the "Jumbo" Boeing 747 series but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007 is even bigger and is already referred to as the new "Super-jumbo" airliner. The Airbus A340 is powered by four engines and is a twin aisle aircraft seating 261-440 passengers. The Airbus A340 first flew on the 25th October 1991. Information about Caribbean Airlines BWIA , West Indies Airways, was the national airline of Trinidad and Tobago, it was shut down the last day of 2006, it's 1900 employees were all given contracts with a new employer, "Caribbean Airlines", which started services on the ex BWIA routes on the first day of 2007 with the ex BWIA staff and also became the new Trinidad and Tobago national airline!
