G-MIDZ BMI British Midland Airbus A320-232Information about the Airbus A320-232 Airbus Industrie began as a consortium of European aviation firms in 1967 when the British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a new European airliner, the Airbus A300. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production, the largest airliner in production for many decades has been the "Jumbo-jet" Boeing 747 series but now the new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007 is even bigger and is already referred to as the "Super-jumbo". The Airbus A320 is a twin engined, single aisle airliner seating 180 passengers, the aircraft type first flew on the 22nd February 1987 and has since proven to be an outstanding commercial success for Airbus Industrie. Information about BMI British Midland BMI was founded in 1938 as Air Schools Ltd, in 1964 it changed its name to British Midland Airways (BMA), in February 2001 British Midland Airways joined the Star Alliance and re-named it's self "bmi british midland" following a 30% acquisition of British Midland Airways by Lufthansa.
