G-DBCI BMI British Midland Airbus A319-132Information about the Airbus A319-132 Airbus Industrie is a consortium of aviation companies created in 1967 following the British, French and German governments signing a Memorandum of Understanding to develop an all new competitive airliner - the Airbus A300. Airbus has been very successful and now Boeing and Airbus jointly dominate the World's airliner production, the largest commercial airliner in production for many decades has been the famous "Jumbo Jet" Boeing 747 series airliner, now the all new Airbus A380, due to enter service in 2007, is even greater in size! The Airbus A319 is a twin engine, single aisle commercial airliner based on the pre-existing A320 design shortened by 3.77 metres, it can seat a minimum of 200 passengers and a maximum of 280 passengers depending on it's seating configuration, the Airbus A319 first took to the air during August of 1995. Information about BMI British Midland BMI was created in 1938 as "Air Schools Ltd", in mid 1964 it had it's name changed to "British Midland Airways" (BMA) and in February 2001 British Midland Airways joined the Star Alliance and re-named it's self "bmi british midland" following it's 30% acquisition by Lufthansa.
