The Airbus A319 is a twin engine, single aisle airliner based on the existing A320 design but shortened by 3.77m, it can seats from between 200 and 280 passengers, the Airbus A319 made it's first flight on the 25th of August 1995. Information about BMI British Midland BMI was created in 1938 as "Air Schools Ltd", during 1964, it had it's name changed to British Midland Airways (BMA) and in February 2001 British Midland Airways joined the Star Alliance and re-named it's self bmi british midland following a 30% acquisition of the company by Lufthansa.
