Information about American Airlines (AA)

American Airlines is a subsidiary of the AMR Corporation and was formed by as American Airways in 1930 by combining 82 small airlines, in 1934 American Airways was acquired by E.L. Cordit and re-named American Airlines.

In April 2001 American Airlines acquired Trans World Airlines (TWA) and is now the largest "passengers-miles" airline in the world. American Airlines has it's headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, and currently operates a massive 600+ mixed fleet of Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas airliners.
