Airbus Industrie began as a consortium of European aviation firms during mid 1967 when the British, French and German governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the Airbus A300. Today Airbus and Boeing dominate the Worlds airliner production. The Airbus A321 is a twin engine, single aisle plane, based on the A320 but lengthened by 6.94m allowing a seating capacity of 220 passengers, the Airbus A321 first flew on the 11th of March 1993.

Formed in 1946 as Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali, commonly known as Alitalia, it joined the SkyTeam Alliance in 2001, Alitalia's current airliner fleet consists of Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas aircraft.
